Effective date: August 31, 2026. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of toruscnc.com, including the ForgeBrain knowledge base, calculators and tools, blog, and store (together, the “Site”), operated by Torus CNC (“we,” “us”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Educational Content — Assumption of Risk

The Site publishes educational and informational content about knifemaking, bladesmithing, forging, heat treating, grinding, woodworking, leatherworking, and related crafts. These activities are inherently dangerous. They involve, among other hazards: high-speed abrasive machinery, extreme heat, open flame, molten and heated metal, flammable liquids, sharp edges and points, projectiles, dust and fumes, and electrical equipment. Serious injury or death can result even when instructions are followed correctly.

All content on the Site is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not professional, engineering, or safety advice, and it is not a substitute for hands-on instruction, proper training, appropriate safety equipment, or your own judgment. Techniques, temperatures, materials and practices described on the Site may be incomplete, inapplicable to your situation, or superseded. You assume all risk arising from your use of any information on this Site. You are solely responsible for your own safety, your workspace, your equipment, compliance with equipment manufacturers’ instructions, and supervision of any minors.

2. Calculators and Interactive Tools

The Site’s calculators, charts, selectors and similar tools produce estimates from general formulas and simplified assumptions. Results may be inaccurate for your materials, equipment or conditions. Verify independently before relying on any output. We make no warranty as to the accuracy of any tool’s results.

3. No Professional Advice

Content touching on business, legal, tax, insurance or regulatory topics (for example: business formation, sales tax, product liability insurance, blade laws, event or venue rules) is general commentary, varies by jurisdiction, changes over time, and is not legal, tax, financial or professional advice. Laws regarding the manufacture, sale, carry and shipment of knives and other edged goods vary significantly by state, locality and country. Consult qualified professionals and your own jurisdiction’s laws before acting.

4. Products and Purchases

Purchases from the Torus CNC store are additionally governed by our Returns & Refunds Policy and any terms presented at checkout. Our machinery and equipment are intended for adult users who have read and follow all included documentation and general shop-safety practice. Motors, electrical components and accessories must be installed and used in accordance with their instructions and applicable electrical codes; work you are not qualified to perform (including electrical wiring) should be performed by licensed professionals. Products are not toys and are not intended for use by minors without competent adult supervision.

You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to purchase from the Site. You are responsible for ensuring that any product you order may be lawfully purchased, possessed and used in your jurisdiction.

5. Intellectual Property

All Site content — text, articles, guides, images, diagrams, calculators, page designs and compilations — is owned by Torus CNC or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. You may view, link to, and print pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, reproduce, scrape, systematically download, or use Site content to train or build competing products or datasets, in whole or substantial part, without our prior written permission. “Torus CNC,” “ForgeBrain,” product names and associated logos are our trademarks; you may not use them without permission.

Third-party names and marks referenced on the Site (including steel producers, equipment brands, organizations, events, publishers and entertainment franchises) belong to their respective owners. References are for identification, commentary and comparison only and do not imply any affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement in either direction.

6. User Submissions

If you submit reviews, comments or other content to the Site, you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to use, display and reproduce that content in connection with the Site and our business. You represent that your submissions are your own, are accurate as to your experience, and are not unlawful, defamatory or infringing. We may moderate, edit for display, or remove submissions at our discretion.

7. Third-Party Links

The Site links to third-party websites, retailers, forums and resources. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, policies or practices. A link is not an endorsement. Your dealings with third parties are solely between you and them.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. PRODUCT WARRANTIES, IF ANY, ARE ONLY THOSE EXPRESSLY STATED WITH THE PRODUCT AT THE TIME OF SALE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TORUS CNC AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, LOST PROFITS OR LOST DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR ANY CONTENT, TOOL OR INFORMATION ON IT, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY RELATING TO THE SITE’S CONTENT AND TOOLS SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS (US $100); LIABILITY RELATING TO A PURCHASED PRODUCT SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THAT PRODUCT. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Torus CNC and its owners, employees and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Site or its content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

11. Privacy

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes; Termination

We may update these Terms at any time by posting a revised version with a new effective date; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or terminate access to the Site or any feature at any time. Sections 1-3, 5 and 8-10 survive termination.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and any dispute shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Illinois.

14. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect. These Terms, together with the policies referenced above and any product terms presented at sale, are the entire agreement regarding the Site. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
